Public Speaking

Public Speaking

My undergraduate coursework included Public Speaking, Speech and Acting, with a "A" grade assessed for those courses. (transcript copy provided by client request) . Since my youth, worked years on door-to-door, phone sales, marketing research, political polling and fundraising jobs, requiring a successful, good-sounding (and "on impact") persuasive speaking voice. That voice got me elected to be a voter precinct chairperson and presidency of a University Language Club. The voice allowed me to complete dozens of social science data collection and polling projects for private and public firms, some assigned High School sub teaching, and later, Law School Exam Proctoring (with a typical brief lecture speech before an exam's commencement) to classroom students attending a national top-20 rated curriculum. Since 2005, I have spoken to audiences at several American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) national and regional conferences. In previous year, spoke to members of the National Association of Counties Green Government Initiative meeting and as a Judge at the DECA National Student Business Projects Competition held in the District of Columbia. Interviewed by five national Blog radio shows in 2015. TRAVEL+LEISURE magazine interviewed me for its America's Dirtiest Cities exposes, regarding my published research on government performances by cities and respective states having severe waste, air and water pollution problems.

Corporate Training

Czech,

Czech

I offer basic-to-intermediate knowledge, pronunciation and writing, of the Czech Language. I took two years of Czech at the college level (transcript by request). I was elected President of the Texas-based University Czech Club by students taking coursework. In recent years, I translated Czech national, provincial and local government websites for the Rutgers Newark Egovernance Institute's 100 Countries and Cities Website Evaluations, for privacy and citizen participation indicators. I was required to successfully communicate in Czech to public officials, to have them explain why a certain website policy/practice was helpful or, sometimes harmful to its citizenry (my Master Degree is in Public Administration/Government)--I wrote a published academic journal article on the experience. I try to be active at the frequent Czech Embassy, District of Columbia cultural events. One of my immediate relatives is the Honorary Consul General of the Czech Republic for the State of Texas and will vouch for my integrity and good work. "Dobry Den!"

History

Political Science,

Political Science

I graduated with a undergraduate faculty departmental award for top semester Political Science graduate, based on GPA and quality of coursework--have copied proof of award and transcript by request (At that time, university rated by professionals as #2 or #3 for quality of and faculty teaching of Political Science in State of Texas). My (later obtained) graduate degree and coursework in Public Administration required a political science background as terms of minimum acceptance into any graduate program. I am an alumni of the Close-Up Foundation for teenagers learning about Congress and operations, based in the District of Columbia. I have worked as a voter precinct pollster for NBC News, for a Texas Public Policy Center in Houston, a private-owned polling firm in Austin, and two political polling operations, one based in the District of Columbia, the other at Arlington in Northern Virginia. I have done fundraising by phone for national and local candidates running for public office. In the 1990's, I ran a self-employed political campaign consultancy operation that phone interviewed hundreds of respondents, with data collection used to make strategic decisions, for a Texas congressional District's candidate. As a young man, was popularly elected a voter precinct chair and worked a major state partisan convention as staff. I am currently an on-call Government Performance Reports Reviewer for a DC-based non-profit, honored with others at a National Press Club dinner. I'm author of the American State Litter Scorecard presentations and monthly website and a journal article on e-governance, Privacy, Citizen Participation and Evaluated World Government Websites.
Sociology

Sociology

Both my undergraduate and graduate degrees required coursework in Sociology---transcript by request, with high GPA and typically an A or B+ letter grade for all Sociology courses in my 7 plus year academic career. Related coursework included Sociology, Understanding of Sociological Literature and Theories, Black and Hispanic Cultural Studies ("The Barrio; " Blacks in U.S. Cities") and Urban Studies. I completed required undergraduate and graduate coursework in Social Science (Sociology) Statistics, including regression, quantitative and qualitative analysis. I was deemed an "excellent researcher" and gatherer of social (and citizen descriptive) data by a large State's Agency Director of Administration. For years, I worked like a true sociologist--"THE OBSERVER"--on dozens of social science data collection and polling projects for private and public firms, and did some assigned High School sub teaching on diverse social sciences topics. My graduate master thesis title includes the fancy word, "Sociopolitical." I am regarded a national expert and collector of data, on human behaviors, attitudes, culture and policies, regarding solid waste source reduction among our 50 United States, and its cities over 175,000 in population.

Rustem, 1 lesson with Steve
Tutor responded:

Thank you Rustem for your review of me, that I am "Well Prepared." Each workplace anywhere in America is indeed different, so my Public Speaking tips can cover general expectations for any setting--the tips a student chooses to implement and their outcomes may vary. Though have years previous experience, I have not, unlike you, worked directly inside the building of a mass-employee government entity or sub- contractor in 10 years. For those interested:I have studied public sector contact law and competitive bidding in grad school and luckily worked with students and professors at a major Law School for several semesters. However, I am NOT an attorney and not set to tutor law (most recently, full-time employed with barred barristers at two Big Box Legal Services firms on K Street NW in Washington, DC). Unlike you, I do not have actual intermediate-plus workplace experience in preparing, finalizing and executing government contracts and am not set to tutor those topics. Again, thank you Rustem for recognizing my (what I consider, strong) Consulting, Diversity and Communication skills. As a current senior citizen, am exposing myself to modern computer languages and newfangled workplace procedures that in the last decade have become commonplace.
