Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

During my 10 years in public school teaching, I taught an Algebra 1 class every year. Since I have been tutoring, I have taught a group of 10 home-schooled students Algebra 1. I have also tutored 4 students individually for the entire Algebra 1 course.

During my 10 years of public school teaching I taught Algebra 2 many times. I have taught Algebra 2 to a group of 4 home-schooled students and then individually to at least 3 students over the last 12 years. I am completely comfortable with all concepts in the Algebra 2 curriculum.

Although I have never taught elementary school, I have successfully helped 3 of my own children through the elementary math program over the last 10 years. I understand the concepts completely. I believe that I am a patient person and an excellent communicator.

Geometry was one of the many courses that I taught during my tenure as a public school teacher. I am completely comfortable with the concepts. I am more analytical than spatial so for those students who enjoy Algebra more than geometry, I am coming from the same perspective.

I have led several classes and students through pre-algebra courses over the last 22 years, both as a tutor and a public school teacher. I am comfortable with all the material. I am very good at explaining the concepts and working one-on-one with a student.

After teaching AP Calculus for 3 years in the public schools, I feel very confident in my abilities to help students learn the concepts necessary to succeed in Precalculus. I know the material well. I am an excellent communicator.

I have been teaching and tutoring Trigonometry since my first year of teaching, 22 years ago. It is one of my favorite courses and I feel very confident in my abilities to tutor in this course.
