York College of PA (B.S) (Mathematics)
Mathematics, at any level, is the art of problem solving. Learning to think through a process, to relate to the world around me is why I love math. However, this isn't the most satisfying of answers for the struggling student who asks, "Why do I have to learn this?" So, while working problems, I always try to find connections, to help students relate to what they are learning in a way that encourages exploration of the world around them. Math can be fun. It is also hard work. I recognize that at times it is more about discipline. Having someone beside you who understands the struggle and wants to help can make all the difference.
Whether ten years old or sixty years old, if you are looking for someone to walk you through Arithmetic or Algebra, I would like to work with you.
I completed my degree in Mathematics as an adult in 2005. Since then I have tutored individuals, taught in a homeschool cooperative, and homeschooled my own four children. I recently worked for two years in an Annapolis tutoring center with middle and high school students. Summer is a great time for review and prep. Contact me to get started today. Mrs. Shoshanna P's tutoring method is that of patience, understanding, and fine tuning of approach based on student data gathering. We are quite content with our child's progress, eagerness and overall confidence. Shoshanna's tutoring has been a positive impact and our family is pleased with her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
