I am a fluent Spanish speaker of Puerto Rican descent, with both formal Spanish language education and practical experience. I have spent extended periods living in Puerto Rico and working in government service as a Spanish speaker. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of Maryland Baltimore County which included studies of the Spanish language at the University of Salamanca in Spain. My native language is English, but I learned to speak Spanish as a youngster both in school and from my father, a surgeon and native of Puerto Rico, and while living in Puerto Rico. I can teach the basic fundamentals, vocabulary, all verb tenses and conjugations, and pronunciation in a friendly and easily understandable manner for young students and adults. I can supplement and aid in course work and assist in test preparation. I will be happy to provide supplemental learning aids and materials at no cost to the student.
I also hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. I played professional basketball for five years in Puerto Rico's Superior Basketball League. I was assigned to work in Puerto Rico for over four years of a 31 year career of U.S. government service, for which I was hired as a Spanish-speaking employee.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I played high school basketball at a prestigious program, Cardinal Gibbons High School, then was a scholarship player at Loyola College, and played 5 seasons in Puerto Rico's professional Superior Basketball League for the champion Bayamon Vaqueros.
