Hello, my name is Charlene. I have been tutoring for four years. I tutor pre K through 12 years old. Before I became a 1:1 tutor, I was the reading enrichment teacher in schools across MD. I worked for a non profit that sent me to different schools on a rotating scheduling teaching students that state assessments scored the lowest readers in the school. I also have lots of experience with IEPs and teaching special needs children. I have been trained in ABA and incorporate those techniques to teach early readers.
I love teaching! After many years of teaching in group settings, I realized that teaching 1:1 can be even more beneficial to a struggling student. There are many factors that can contribute to difficulty learning in school. Working 1:1with students has allowed me to address each students personal needs. My favorite part of tutoring is watching my students become strong and confident. It makes me happy to see the proud look on my students face when they accomplish their goals. Every learner is unique!
I'm an outstanding reading tutor because I think about learning as a multi dimensional concept. I assess reasons why my students may be struggling and address those needs. I encourage positive learning habits and a provide a motivating learning experience.
I am ABA trained, so I bring those skills into my tutoring session. I also currently work with many children on the Autism spectrum providing ABA services.
I would love to learn how I can assist struggling readers. Lets make learning to read fun and worry free. As a tutor I use methods that boost confidence! See how simple learning can be with an awesome tutor like me! Hello, my name is Charlene. I have been tutoring for four years. I tutor pre K through 12 years old. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been working with students with autism for many years. I currently provide ABA services for children with autism. Through these services I teach reading, writing, and language acquisition. I have plenty of experience as well as certification to prove I have completed ABA training.
