My background is unique in that it is not limited to just traditional teaching situations. I have spent nearly 18 years teaching and training individuals in non-traditional educational situations. This has given me experience in adapting different educational approaches to fit the individual to ensure they understand the information presented and can successfully complete tasks given to them. I believe this has granted me an exceptional prospective to be able to show students how academic achievement is not just limited to the classroom, but how it applies to the world at large.
I am a graduate of High Point University in North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science, and a minor in International Relations. I attended James Madison University to begin my MAT degree in History and Secondary Education.
Teaching at Le Mans Academy in Rolling Prairie, Indiana provided me with opportunity to live and work with 5th, 6th and 9th graders. I ran a dorm of 30 boys ranging from 5th to 9th grade responsible for everything from discipline to just being there to listen. I taught 5th and 6th grade World History and basic U.S. Geography. I also taught 9th grade Independent Study (i.e.: writing term papers) and Making Moral Decisions (a combination of philosophy and critical thinking).

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
