About Michael

I've been tutoring students at all levels and abilities for over 10 years and pride myself on excellent results while still having fun and making every tutoring session enjoyable. I am also a high school and middle school math teacher.

Tutoring is all about you, the student. Let's work together to find the best methods for you to understand and absorb the material. One of the great parts of tutoring is that we can spend time on those areas that need special attention without the pressure of a classroom setting. If one problem takes 30 minutes, that's fine! The time we spend together will help you succeed in class and turn frustration into success.

We've all experienced that "aha moment" when everything clicks. I look forward to lots of those moments as we work together.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I have tutored students in ACT prep for over 10 years with very positive results.

ACT Math

Math is my specialty. I have helped students raise their ACT math scores by 3-8 points through practice and review of basic math skills that you already know but may have forgotten. Great scores are well within your reach!

ACT Reading

The reading section of the ACT can be a real challenge. Learning some very basic strategies and regular practice you will see an increase on your score of 3-8 points (or more)!

ACT Science

ACT Science doesn't require a science background at all. It is just a combination of reading and interpreting graphs or charts. Utilizing some basic techniques and with regular practice you will see a significant increase in your test scores.

Algebra 1

Algebra I is the main building block to the rest of high school math. By getting a solid foundation, math can actually be fun and a lot less stressful.

I am a math teacher and have been tutoring for over 10 years. Let's work together to get your child on the path to success.

Algebra 2

I am a math teacher and have taught multiple classes of Algebra II. In addition I have tutored students in Algebra II for over 10 years with great results. During the 2013-2014 school year I worked with a 10th grader in honors Algebra II. Her grade went from a C- to an A with my assistance.

Calculus

I was a math major when I started college having taken calculus in high school. Throughout college and beyond I helped friends with calculus and then started being asked to tutor friends` children. I relearned calculus recently in order to work with higher level students.

Elementary Math

I enjoy the enthusiasm of elementary students and love seeing their faces when they grasp how to solve a tough problem. Together we can make math fun and turn frustration into regular and continued success.

Geometry

I am a math teacher with long-time experience teaching and tutoring geometry.

Geometry can be challenge for many students, even those who did well in algebra.

Together we'll decipher the strange terms and theorems and get you back on the right track to enjoy and succeed in geometry.

This past year I worked with a 10th grader taking honors Geometry and together we raised his grade from a D to a B!

Prealgebra

Prealgebra is the gateway to high school math and my extensive teaching and tutoring background will help you succeed.

Together we will make math fun and enjoyable rather than a subject to be dreaded.

Precalculus

Precalculus, a continuation of Algebra II, can be a real challenge. With my teaching and tutoring background I can help you navigate the difficult topics and keep you current in class.

Probability

Odds are, probability will be quite different than all the other math classes you've taken. It can be a lot of fun and with my tutoring experience you will succeed.

PSAT

The best thing about the PSAT is that it is merely a warm-up for the SAT or ACT. If you well fantastic, and if not you'll know there is plenty of time to practice and prepare for the real test at the end of your junior.

With over 10 years of tutoring experience and working together you'll do great!

SAT Math

I have tutored students in SAT prep for over 10 years with very positive results.

SAT Reading

The SAT reading section can be a real challenge and seem overwhelming at first.

After learning a few basic techniques and with regular practice you can expect an increase of 100-200 points are more.

Together you will succeed on your SAT.

Trigonometry

Trig is an interesting combination of geometry and algebra II. You will use all of your prior math skills to succeed in this class and I will be there to help guide you through the tough parts.

All "sines" point to your success with my assistance.
