I am currently a substitute teacher with the Montgomery County school system and have been for the past 3 years. I specialize in working with middle school and high school kids. I teach all subjects with the exception of French, Spanish, other foreign languages and some math classes.
I have tutored this same age group for the last 20 years in all subjects, reading, phonics, language, science, social studies, biology, pre-algebra, English and history. I even home schooled my daughter and her friend for 7th and 8th grade.
I was recognized by the PG County School system as an outstanding teacher. I have taught Special Education in the DC Public Schools from 1988 to 1993. I am again working on my certification in PE, and am now waiting for my results from the Praxis exam in order to become certified again. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring students of all age, and have had a mentor program for middle and high school girls for over 10 years. And I will continue to tutor students when there is a need whether I get paid for it or not. It gives me great satisfaction when I see that they finally understand something that has given them stress for such a long time.
What makes me an outstanding English tutor is my need to make sure that students understand the importance of English, writing, and grammar. I have found that many students can't even write a correct sentence and that bothers me as a teacher. Just to know the basic information that is needed to get through middle and high school English is something that I feel strongly about, and want to help fix this major problem.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a personal trainer for 25 years, I feel that my experience speaks for my ability to train. Every program that I design for a client is based on their fitness and nutritional goals. No two programs are the same. I guide them on daily exercises, accountability on what they eat, when they eat and how much they eat. I monitor their heart rates, the amount of time that they are engaged in exercise, and I give specific activities for them to do when in training and when they are not with me. I have a 99.9% success rate with all of my clients, and can give countless numbers of references to show that my programs are successful.
I have a degree in Special Education and have taught elementary and middle school children for 5 years in DC Public Schools.
I have been a certified fitness instructor and personal trainer for 32 years. My population has always been children, adults between the ages of 18 to 55 and I also have taught senior citizens. My company has been my business for 22 years, and has been very lucrative and rewarding for me.
