Doctoral Level Math-Statistics-Software Tutoring and Consulting
I am a Ph.D. statistician, and I have a long experience in teaching mathematics and statistics as a university professor (grad and undergrad level) as well as a research/statistical consultant. I strongly believe that I have the skills, experience, and training required to communicate mathematical and statistical results to very diverse individuals and audiences.
I am also very proud that my WyzAnt student for two consecutive years was accepted to MIT!

Outstanding tutor!
Dr. R has the unique ability to make the complicated seem straightforward and understandable without making the student feel like an incompetent. Math/Stats can be intimidating for the 'math challenged' but it is key to being a complete social science student. My adult child was having a hard time with the stats, and despite studying and seeking help from the professor and TA, it was still too hard. Dr. R has made all the difference. Would highly recommend her to other students. Ability/Knowledge: A+; Time Flexible: A+; Responsiveness: A+; Ability to communicate with all levels of student: A+ If you are a Undergrad or Graduate student, No need to suffer through Stats. Pick Dr R.

Very Knowledgable!
We reviewed my project and my goals. Elena then went over the process for data analysis using SAS and some new visual possibilities using R. Next we will review my data and run various test to validate my project goals.

Organized and reliable. Put a lot of effort into preparation.
Elena taught me an introduction to the use of the computer program R for doing work in statistics. I liked the fact that Elena came prepared with a lesson plan.

An Exemplary Tutor in Statistics!!!
I first started my lessons with Elena during the first year of my doctoral program. She has tutored me in content related to my graduate statistics courses including advanced statistics, and multivariate statistics. Elena is able to simplify statistical concepts to even those that may not have the strongest math backgrounds. She is excellent in explaining how to run analysis in SPSS and interpreting them. Elena is dependable, thorough and very much concerned about her students mastering the material. I credit Elena a GREAT deal in regards to my success in statistics. I HIGHLY recommend her for any undergraduate or graduate student who may need additional assistance in statistics.

I don't think it was a good fit
My sense was the tutor may not have considered closely all the materials I submitted about my particular problem and my work on it to date. I feel like I received general information (some of which was already in the detailed problem statement I originally submitted) in return for the $170 I spent and I feel like I made virtually no progress toward answering my principal question. It's possible a breakthrough would have occurred if I had invested additional hours but my hunch was that wasn't going to happen so we wrapped things up where they were after 2 hrs 10 min charged for strictly e-mail tutoring. Tutor responded quickly and was very professional. I think this just wasn't a good fit for the particular problem I'm working on.
Kurt, 1 lesson with ElenaTutor responded:Thank you for the feedback. I just wanted to clarify that the response I sent you was the answer to a very specific question you asked (which one of the three numbers is the correct calculation for the variance). The general information you are referring to, was the justification (the theory behind) this answer, which I always provide to my students. In addition, the correspondence (tutoring) via email was used upon mutual agreement since you live in NM and I am in MD. Thank you again, I really enjoyed working with you.
