I strongly believe that I have the skills, experience, and training required to communicate mathematical and statistical results to very diverse individuals and audiences.

I am also very proud that my WyzAnt student for two consecutive years was accepted to MIT!

Because of my training and experience, I am specialized in teaching mathematics and statistics, so these are the only subjects I tutor. I want my students to get high quality services, related to my area of expertise. I am happy and proud that I have helped numerous students with a variety of courses ranging from AP Calculus and AP Statistics as well as graduate and undergraduate college level. Additionally, I can effectively help you with any type of statistical software as SPSS, SAS, R, and Stata.

Having a long experience in statistical consulting, I can provide high quality assistance with the research design of theses, statistical projects or with the statistical analysis and software implementation of other research or professional tasks.

Minimum 60 minute session for all lessons.

I understand that things happen, but to be able to accommodate my students, I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you do not cancel a lesson before that period, I will have to charge an one-hour cancellation fee.

SAS,

SAS

Besides a long experience I have as a SAS programmer and my participation in numerous statistical projects using SAS and SAS Enterprise, I have recently passed the programming 1 and programming 2 courses (offered by SAS) so that I can more effectively help those people that are seeking SAS certification. i have also taught a University course related to experimental design with the use of SAS.

Biostatistics,

Biostatistics

I have an extensive training in biostatistics, and in particular in topics related to worked in survival analysis, biomarkers evaluation, missing data and proportional hazards models to name a few. My experience is related to the numerous biostatistical projects that I have been involved, as a consultant, through the years and the numerous students and professionals that I have helped both with the software implementation and the analysis of the results.
Logic,

Logic

I have taught logic as part of a quantitative reasoning undergraduate course and as part of a finite mathematics course. These courses include but are not limited to the discussion of statements, premises and conclusions, negation, conjection and disjunction, conditionals, necessary and sufficient conditions, contrapositive statements and equivalence. The combination of all these leads to the construction of truth tables for analyzing statements and determining their validity (tautology).

Test Preparation

Praxis,

Praxis

I have successfully helped numerous Praxis candidates with all of the Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus parts of the test. I can provide students with not only the analytical approach to the questions but also with the right strategies to ace the test. The most important such strategy is time management. To achieve the best results possible I train students to effectively use scientific/ graphing calculators such as the TI 83-84 series. By doing that the student can deliver excellent results in the minimum possible time.

Very Knowledgable!

We reviewed my project and my goals. Elena then went over the process for data analysis using SAS and some new visual possibilities using R. Next we will review my data and run various test to validate my project goals.

Great lesson and tutor

We worked many problems and she provided a ton of feedback/input. I cant wait to continue our lessons.I am very grateful for her help. :)

Organized and reliable. Put a lot of effort into preparation.

Elena taught me an introduction to the use of the computer program R for doing work in statistics. I liked the fact that Elena came prepared with a lesson plan.

An Exemplary Tutor in Statistics!!!

I first started my lessons with Elena during the first year of my doctoral program. She has tutored me in content related to my graduate statistics courses including advanced statistics, and multivariate statistics. Elena is able to simplify statistical concepts to even those that may not have the strongest math backgrounds. She is excellent in explaining how to run analysis in SPSS and interpreting them. Elena is dependable, thorough and very much concerned about her students mastering the material. I credit Elena a GREAT deal in regards to my success in statistics. I HIGHLY recommend her for any undergraduate or graduate student who may need additional assistance in statistics.

I don't think it was a good fit

My sense was the tutor may not have considered closely all the materials I submitted about my particular problem and my work on it to date. I feel like I received general information (some of which was already in the detailed problem statement I originally submitted) in return for the $170 I spent and I feel like I made virtually no progress toward answering my principal question. It's possible a breakthrough would have occurred if I had invested additional hours but my hunch was that wasn't going to happen so we wrapped things up where they were after 2 hrs 10 min charged for strictly e-mail tutoring. Tutor responded quickly and was very professional. I think this just wasn't a good fit for the particular problem I'm working on.

Tutor responded:

Thank you for the feedback. I just wanted to clarify that the response I sent you was the answer to a very specific question you asked (which one of the three numbers is the correct calculation for the variance). The general information you are referring to, was the justification (the theory behind) this answer, which I always provide to my students. In addition, the correspondence (tutoring) via email was used upon mutual agreement since you live in NM and I am in MD. Thank you again, I really enjoyed working with you.
