Hi, my name is Brendan and I am happy to assist you or your children achieve academic success. I am a graduate from the University of Maryland honors college with a degree in chemistry. I am currently working towards my masters in electronic materials engineering, and am looking to tutor full-time as I complete my degree. I have tutored for over 5 years at this time and am currently looking to pick up more students for the summer. As a chemistry major, I developed a very strong background in math and science. I am very capable of tutoring you or your children in any math course up through Calculus BC as well as Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
I also have extensive experience tutoring for the SAT (SuperScore 2290) and the GRE (168 Q, 163 V) and am perfectly capable of tutoring for the GMAT and ACT as well.
I specialize in higher level high school courses and lower level college classes. I performed exceptionally well on AP tests during my high school career (5s on AP Biology, Chemistry, Calculus AB, and 4s on AP Physics and Calculus BC exams), and have further strengthened my background with college courses in these subjects.
My previous tutoring experiences have included private tutoring to several college and high school students. I have always had a very strong professional relationship with my students, and they have always met or exceeded their goals for the course. I am currently leading a small SAT prep study class - helping 5 aspiring college students reach the their goals. Bendan clearly has a passion for helping kids achieve their academic goals and he definitely knows his stuff. He familiarity with the subject matter, teachers and teaching style at our daughter's school is very helpful. We feel very fortunate to have found Brendan!
Brendan is not only a great teacher, but he affirms his students that they are great students. He is encouraging and patient, and tells his students that with trial and error, they will learn the material. He has helped tremendously with my daughter, and has allowed her to be confident in the material.
Very helpful to both my 9th grader in geometry and my 12th grader in calculus. Breaks content down so that it's comprehensible. Kids said after sessions that the information they had been taught in school was now much more clear. Gave them confidence in the topics being studied.
I had Brendan for Organic Chemistry 1 and he is a great tutor. He's very patient with you even if you don't know anything. He also knows his stuff very well and explains it in a way that makes sense.
I am planning on taking Organic Chemistry in the fall semester and wanted to get ahead of the curve by studying in advance. Brendan has been extremely helpful in explaining the concepts that will be used in Organic Chemistry. Brendan explains the material in a very simple way that the textbook does not. I completely understand most concepts after our sessions. Additionally, he will write out notes of important material that you can study from in the future. He has a phenomenal understanding of all the material and can explain most material off the top of his head. I am extremely satisfied with our sessions and it will greatly benefit me during the course of the semester. I would highly recommend Brendan as a tutor for anyone needing help in Organic Chemistry.
Brendan has the ability to get teenagers to not only to do homework, study for quizes and exams, but to motivate them to do better in school! I have already recommended him to friends and hope that this review acts as another recommendation. Thanks Brendan!
He was friendly, patient and made chemistry and precalculus easier for my son to learn!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have always performed exceptionally well on standardized math assessments. My math SAT score was a 790/800 and my math GRE score was a 168/170. Although, I've always narrowly escaped perfection on these exams, my knowledge is endless and there is a never a question I can't figure out how to solve. I have helped students prepare for the Math section of the ACT for several years and students normally see a 4-6 point improvement in their scores. I recently helped a student achieve a perfect overall ACT score in the summer of 2017. I am extremely patient, calm, kind and provide clear explanations. In addition to the math section, I can also help your son or daughter with any part of the ACT!
Brendan has scored in the top 1% of both the SAT and the GRE math sections. He has extensive experience tutoring high school students and they really enjoy working with a young fresh, college graduate. Students find him extremely related, and enjoy his clear, concise explanations.
I received straight A's in my algebra 2/trig class in the science and tech program at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. I also received a 5 on the AP Calculus exam back in high school. My math SAT score was a 790/800 and my math GRE score was a 168/170.
I received a 5 on the AP Calculus exam, and have about seven years of experience tutoring students in all math and science courses.
In high school, I received A's in both my honors chemistry and AP chemistry courses in Eleanor Roosevelt High School's science and technology program. I went on to receive a 5 on the AP chemistry exam and love the subject so much that I went on to major in it at University of Maryland. I completed my degree in only 3 years - receiving high marks in all of my chemistry lecture courses. However, you should know that I do more than just chemistry! I can also help with any math course up through differential equations, physics, all SAT/ACT sections, and even college essay drafting. I explain concepts in a calm, clear and effective manner that students really enjoy!
I am currently a University of Maryland student majoring in chemistry. I have taken both organic chemistry I and II, and received an A in both courses. I have tutored 4 students in this class over the past year and they have all been very satisfied with their success in the course.
