I have been tutoring for a few years during high school. I have experience tutoring elementary age children in mathematics and helping them with their reading skills, but I also helped my classmates in high school when they struggled with their math problems. When tutoring others, I love the satisfaction that comes when the student feels as though he or she understands the material. As a mathematics and computer science double major, I am well aware of the frustrations math can bring.
I excel at math concepts from elementary school through high school, and I believe that every student is capable of succeeding in their math classes. I do not view tutoring as something kids go to when they are not as smart as their peers, but as a tool that kids can use when they are determined to better themselves and thoroughly understand the material.
I am currently a mathematics and computer science double major and will be taking differential equations this fall. I took the highest math classes possible in high school, I was the mathematics department award winner, and I received an 800 on the math portion of my SAT's. I took many AP classes during high school and finished 7th in my class.
I am very flexible with my schedule especially during the remainder of the summer and I am willing to put in the time and effort to improve your grades. If you have the desire to take control of your math education and stop feeling defeated in class, then contact me to learn more about how you can learn to love math as much as I do. Lauren is an amazing tutor! She helped my son so much! I would highly recommend her. She is very patient and organized. She helped my son in Geometry. He has struggled in Math for years and she was able to help him get his grades up!
Lauren has walked through problems with me, going over step by step of what she does. She helps me with all the questions I have, and is very patient when I don't understand something. Before I was getting low grades on my test, but my most recent one I got an 88. So she has helped a lot.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
