I am currently a second grade teacher in my tenth year of teaching. I've also taught sixth and seventh grade math. I love helping students learn. Seeing students work on something until they reach their "a-ha!" moment is one of my favorite things about teaching. I take pride in planning fun and engaging lessons while still teaching the required curriculum. I have access to numerous resources that will assist me in planning lessons. I teach reading to three or more small groups each day. I have students in my class who range from kindergarten readers to readers on a fourth grade reading level and lessons are tailored to meet each students' needs.
Teaching science is fun. I love finding experiments and hands in activities that enhance the curriculum and increase student understanding.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
