I have taught in Harford County Public Schools for the last 21 years. Most of my experience has been in kindergarten, yet I have also taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade. I try to make learning fun and rewarding while building up each child's self-esteem. My goal is to reach each child at his/her own individual level and take them to greater heights in learning. I promote a positive, risk-free, encouraging learning environment to build trust and success. I want open communication between myself and parents on a continuous basis so we can meet goals together as a team. I also want to see what area(s) the child's teacher recommends tutoring for and any additional feedback that would foster guidance to promote success in the tutoring process.
I have tutored a third grader for reading, along with an ESOL learning student in reading and math for 2 years. This was done while I was teaching in the evenings and after school. I am now interested in working more with one on one and doing tutoring more as a permanent job rather than on the side. This way I can directly help individuals succeed where it is most needed. I want to branch out to help those children who just need a little more support and guidance that can be obtained from one on one support, and not necessarily on a daily basis in the regular classroom due to the high number of students with varying abilities and time constraints.
I am truly committed to educational development and student achievement. I look forward to promoting your child's success in school!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
