Salisbury University (Spanish)
Are you interested in learning a second language? Does your child need assistance in his or her Spanish class? Are you a business owner or employee looking to better communicate with your Spanish-speaking co-workers and customers? Are you planning to travel abroad and want to sharpen your Spanish skills? If you have answered "Yes" to any of the above questions, then I am the Spanish instructor for you.
I started learning Spanish over twenty years ago. By learning a new language, a whole new world was opened to me. I studied Spanish in college and spent a summer in Spain to enhance my Spanish skills. I have seven years of full-time teaching experience at the high school level, including instruction in Spanish 1, Spanish 2, Spanish 3, and Spanish 3 Pre-AP. I also served as a translator at many school conferences so that Spanish-speaking parents were aware of the school's concerns for their children. I also have experience as a part time tutor through Sylvan Learning Center, and over three years of private tutoring experience via WyzAnt in the Bel Air area. I have a current Professional Eligibility Certificate to teach Spanish at the Secondary level in Maryland.
I use multiple strategies to ensure that all of my students are learning. With a focus on both grammar rules and activities that develop fluency, I help students to not only understand the structure of the Spanish language but also to communicate effectively. I understand the complexity in learning a new language, and I can assist my students with strategies to succeed.
I can assist elementary, middle, high school and college students. I can also work with retirees, business owners, and other adults looking to improve their Spanish skills. This was the first time my son has had a Spanish tutor, and let me tell you I was really impressed with Christine. She made the tutoring fun and exciting for my son, he was really into it, and that made me all the more happier. I look forward to working with Christine again, she is awesome.
My 1st lesson with Christine was a great experience. She explained the process of learning conversational Spanish and we started with basic alphabet and number lessons. She made learning fun. I am looking forward to my next lesson.
Wonderful introduction to Spanish in preparation for our tour to Costa Rica. Christine provided us with a working knowledge of numbers. After our first lesson we are able to read, pronounce, and understand spoken numbers to allow us ask questions and tell time, identifying dates, order drinks, and the like. Great beginnings. Thanks Christine
Christine was encouraging and helpful in explaining the lesson to my son. He felt more confident after the end of his first tutoring session! Thank you! I look forward to continuing with Christine as my son Spanish tutor.
Thank you for your kind words, Wendy. I enjoy working with your son and look forward to helping him continue to be successful in Spanish.
Has the perfect ability to introduce a student who is stepping their toes into the water of learning a new language. Very patient, and creative in teaching lessons. Doesn't bore with strictly teaching by the books, but learns the ins and outs of who she is working with to better help them understand the new material.
I need to learn Spanish for work and being an adult student didn't phase her one bit. She moved effectively through the personalized material she brought for me and increased my understanding of Spanish immensely. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended.
I can't say enough about Christine ! She is a very pleasant person, always well prepared, prompt and makes her lessons fun. Our 13 year old daughter had slipped to a " C " in Spanish and we decided to get her some help. Thanks to Christine, her Spanish Grade is now an " A".
Christine has been a terrific help to my daughter with her Spanish III material. She's patient, professional, and has helped my daughter tremendously.
First class with Christine today went extremely well. There was a smooth introduction between her and my daughter and I'm excited to continue classes.
Thank you, Elizabeth. I look forward to working more with your daughter to reinforce her current knowledge and help her with new topics as well.
Christine has helped my daughter improve her Spanish grade. It is a tough subject for her and Christine is very patient and develops lesson plans aimed at bolstering her weak spots. She feels much more comfortable with the vocabulary and grammar 6 weeks into her sessions. Thanks Christine!
April, thank you for the opportunity to work with your daughter. I have enjoyed helping her with her Spanish and seeing her improve each week.
Christine is a very reliable, pleasant, great tutor. My son is doing much better in Spanish and enjoys working with Christina. Her schedule is flexible and she keeps you informed.
Thank you for the kind review, Tina. I have enjoyed working with your son and it is great seeing him improve his grade and confidence in Spanish.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 7 years of full time high school teaching experience, including Spanish 1, 2, 3, and 3 Pre-AP. I have a BA in Spanish and a concentration in Secondary Education, and I am currently certified to teach in Maryland.
