I am currently in my 14th year of teaching, though it's been my dream career since I was very young. At the moment I teach 7th grade mathematics. I have previously taught everything from 2nd grade to high school Geometry, and am comfortable working with students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. I am passionate about helping my students discover what they are capable of, and 11 years as a special education teacher has helped me master the art of flexibility in my teaching style in order to best meet the needs of each unique student.
I have my Master of Education degree from Temple University, and an undergraduate degree in Special Education from Seattle Pacific University. I was a successful student throughout my school career and have tested well throughout all standardized tests. I fully understand the importance of education in a child's future success in life and I genuinely love being a part of the process to help that child succeed. I am a very patient and flexible teacher who will work tirelessly to find the approach that best works for each individual student.
As a math teacher, I know that many students have a strong dislike or even fear of math and naturally assume they are no good at it. My favorite part about my job is the moment students realize math is not so scary after all, and when we find the approach that allows for the material to finally click.
I would love the opportunity to meet you and develop a plan to meet your needs. I look forward to hearing from you!
