About Hannah

I am a lifelong learner and preparing to head to PhD programs next year. As a magna cum laude graduate with honors in Neuroscience, I understand how hard work and determination pays off. I have tutored at various levels for over 8 years--from high school mathematics to neuroscience and writing.

I have most experience in introductory psychology and neuroscience, as I have tutored those for three years and served as a teaching assistant for a Medical Psychology Course. I love teaching these topics so much because I find that creating stories to help students understand these concepts is a fun and rewarding way to learn.

I also can tutor for ACT (personal score: 35) and GRE (scores 168/167/5.5). I have a minor in mathematics, and can cover high school level courses or standardized test preparation.

I am available on weekday nights from 6-9 pm and from 9-5 on most weekends. I am also available to do online sessions.

My ACT Math score was 36/36 and my GRE Math score was 168/170. I won the Bates College's Drake Bradley Award in Statistics in 2015. I majored in neuroscience with a concentration in psychology. My major GPA was 3.91. I have experience writing scientific papers in psychology formats. I served as a TA for a medical psychology class, which was essentially introductory neuroscience for people without any biological experience.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I had A's in each mathematics class in high school, have a minor in mathematics, and scored a 36/36 on my ACT math.

Biology

I have taken numerous biology courses. I had an A in my high school AP class and earned a 5 on the AP test. In college, I was a neuroscience major and took organismal biology (A-) and cellular/microbiology (A). I am particularly well versed in neuroscience biology.

GRE

I have been tutoring for over eight years, including helping people with thinking through math problems. I was a math minor in college and scored a 168 on the GRE on my first attempt. I have served officially as a tutor and teaching assistant.

Proofreading

I have experience writing at many levels--high school, college, professional, and scientific. I have written an Honors Thesis and numerous papers as part of my college's writing requirements. Many friends have had me edit their papers, and I enjoy proofreading and editing.

Psychology

I have a major in neuroscience with a concentration in psychology from Bates College. My major GPA is 3.91, and I received A's in all other psychology courses. I have tutored in psychology and served as a teaching assistant with my own office hours for psychology. I am especially qualified to teach introductory neuroscience or cognitive neuroscience, as these are the courses I have the most experience and passion for.

SAT Math

I had A's in each mathematics class in high school, have a minor in mathematics, and have experience tutoring math for three years from the precalculus level to college courses in statistics, all of which can be found on the SAT math.
