About Jessica

Greetings Parents and Students! My name is Jessica and I am a English Language Arts and Reading Intervention Instructor. My passion is creating strong readers and writers here in the Baltimore City Area. I am currently a lead ELA teacher in West Baltimore City and have experience teaching 3rd-12th grade students.

I am currently pursuing my Master in Education from Johns Hopkins University. As an ELA teacher I try to use creative and innovative techniques and texts to engage my students and get them excited to learn.

I have been trained through the Baltimore City Teaching Residency in all things Common Core and have several effective strategies to address learning deficits in reading and writing. I also have 2 years experience with teaching students with ESOL and IEP needs (Behavioral, Emotional and Cognitive Disabilities). In addition to this, I use data to drive my instructional techniques as well as arts and technology integration to make my students college and career ready

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
