About Joe

Excellent K.12 , and Adult educator. Doctoral Dissertation thesis : Effects of Direct Instruction Common Core Math on Students with Learning Disabilities.
Accomplished organizer and curriculum developer of middle grade school lesson planning through college.
Can teach both social and cultural anthropology and multiple other subject domains.

I am an outstanding special needs tutor because I am adept at combining my skills with empathy. I go far and beyond the call of duty to ensure that my students take advantage of both worlds in academia: (1) Best instructional service for a reasonable cost, and (2) Fun activities to complement learning in the real world. According to John Dewey (1910) , educating the populace is best when shared at a pupil's level of interest, skills, and ability.

Please contact me to schedule your appointment. My area of expertise is 7th through 12th grade and beyond. Any subject areas, except languages. I am also an expert in college reading and research sources from Anthropology to Zoology. I can teach both physical and cultural anthropology, sociology and psychology, witchcraft theories, and including structuralism and functionalism.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Special Needs

I have been teaching special education math, science, social studies, and reading for 15 years in Virginia, New York, Washington, DC, and Baltimore, Maryland. I strive for, and maintain high expectations from my students. I have an Associate degree in math and social science from Laney College, Oakland, CA; a Bachelor's degree (BA) in Anthropology, from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR; and a Master's in Science degree in education (Ms. Ed.) from the City College of New York, -(CUNY). NY. My preferred methods of teaching are using Direct Instruction with cognitive support pedagogy and Discrete Trial Methods (for students with Asperger's' syndromes and Autism).
