About Ebony

I've loved learning since before I could walk. I'm really observant, and I grasp things quickly. I'm totally blind, and fluent in braille. I'm an avid reader; English was my favorite subject in grade school.

While in school, I tutored braille, and have taught people in any way I could. I've received accolades fin Spanish, for outstanding achievement in reading, and writing, as well as the "White Hall Leadership award" for independence, and independent living.

I've been active in my school choir since age ten, and receiving vocal lessons, in and outside school. I have also played the handbells, and received the Mark G. Danfield Music Prize for Choir and Bell Choir on a few separate occasions. I have performed many solos in our winter and spring concerts, and in church choir.

I have been reading braille since age three, and have received a braille literacy award. In high school, I did very well in Spanish 1, and 2, and received an outstanding achievement in reading, and writing Spanish.

I am a US citizen, born, and raised. English, grammar, reading, writing are a few subjects I have done very well in, and I feel strongly about.

I feel confident in all of these subjects, and intend to be the best tutor I can be, and to help students to reach their fullest potential.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Braille

I have been reading braille since age three. I am fluent in grades 1, 2, and I've acquainted myself with Unified English Braille. In high school, I tutored another student in braille, and I've brailled business cards for school faculty.

English

I did very well in English. I've received a few awards in high school and passed most tests. I've helped other friends with assignments.

ESL/ESOL

I am fluent in English, both spoken, and written. I am a stickler for grammar, punctuation, and proofreading.
