About Jennifer

I have taught undergraduates for more than ten years at a local university. I love to teach! Although I do not often have the opportunity, I enjoy working with students one-on-one.

I pride myself on my ability to be able to break down difficult concepts into everyday language that everyone can understand. I am patient, attentive, and dedicated.

I am a published author and I serve on the editorial board of an academic journal, Contemporary Justice Review. I also teach an advanced writing course for junior and seniors in college.

As far as Algebra is concerned . . . my experience involves tutoring both my nephew and daughter throughout middle and high school.

Please contact me if you have any questions. I have a flexible schedule and I look forward to working with you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Criminal Justice

I am an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at a local university. I have been teaching courses such as Women and Crime, Writing for Criminal Justice, and Criminal Justice and Conflict Resolution for nearly 15 years. I hold a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and I specialize in the uses of conflict resolution in the U.S. criminal justice system.

ESL/ESOL

I have over fifteen years of teaching undergraduates from a variety of backgrounds, including ESL learners. I am an Alison certified ESL instructor and currently tutor ESL students. I use the audio-linqual and collaborative learning methods primarily.

Vocabulary

I have fifteen years of teaching undergraduates in the social sciences. Vocabulary development is one of the focuses of everyone of my courses. Without an expanded vocabulary students are limited in their learning on any topic. I routinely select words out of the assigned reading to place on assessments in order to encourage my students to look up the definitions of unfamiliar words and or determine their meaning via context clues.

Writing

I am qualified as a subject expert in writing (and criminal justice). I am a published writer and I teach writing to Undergraduates.

She is a nice tutor. She know what to teach. She is reasonable in charging also. I recommend to use her. I am continuing my education with her.
