“**Good improvement**”

Hello,

My name is TJ and I am a physics in mathematics tutor living in Towson, MD. I graduate from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics

Background Check:
Passed

In-person lessons

My son is now doing well in his Honors Physics exams. Thomas is punctual and polite and gets along well with my son.

He taught me physics circuits and he answered all my questions in order to prepare for my exam in 3 weeks. He is great and very intelligent

Thomas was great. He was punctual, professional, and very knowledgeable. He also has a good sense of humor, which is very nice when dealing with higher level math. I would definitely recommend Thomas.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra is a part of my everyday life. I do my best to help students bridge the gap in their mathematical understanding and have had a lot of success.

While working as an instructor for a physics laboratory, I frequently work with students who struggle with the basic concepts of algebra. Without algebra, a general physics student is not suited to pass the course.

Calculus is something I use every day in problem solving. I enjoy higher-level mathematics and am passionate about helping those who struggle with math to enjoy it the same way I do. I have worked with calculus students since I took calculus myself five years ago and feel very comfortable teaching the material.

Differential Equations was the first mathematics course I completed in college. The course was challenging, but very useful for my studies in physics. I still have copies of all of my original notes from the course and reference them often.

I use differential equations frequently in my research and coursework and have worked with classmates and students on solving challenging differential equations for years. There is a formulaic way to solve most differential equations that all students hoping to conquer the course should come to understand, and I really feel I can help them accomplish this.

While receiving a BS in physics at University, I received many opportunities to teach and tutor underclassmen physics courses. I have worked as a learning assistant for General Physics I & II, both calculus and non-calculus based. I also worked as the main physics tutor in the Academic Achievement Center for six semesters.

I have helped students with Precalculus since 11th grade. Precalculus is really just a culmination of algebra and trigonometry that can overwhelm a student who is not comfortable with math in general, and I feel I am more than suited to help any student with the topics involved.

Trigonometry is one of the most useful mathematical topics in physics; most physicists and physics majors think of it as second nature. While some struggle to highlight the key topics and importance of trig, physics is actually a very useful tool for explaining the concepts that is not taken advantage of enough in math courses.
