Hello from Eugenia, your neighboring teacher/tutor in the Govans area with nearly 20 years experience! Presently I teach severe and profound students on the high school level at the MD School for the Blind. Teaching Bible study at Huber Memorial Church is also a passion. I love to teach and come from a family of educators/administrators. I have been a special ed teacher helping youth and adults achieve goals many thought unimaginable. I am a strong believer that everyone can achieve. Let me help you find your strengths to diminish your challenges. Other schools include the Arrow Center for Education, Youth in Transition, Baltimore County Schools Alternative Education (night school and Home and Hospital) and in the Baltimore City Detention Center. In Chicago I worked under Jack Wuest's Alternative Schools Network for three years after working with a technology team under the late Melverlene Parker and Fred Allen at Hirsch Metro Communications High School (my first teaching job after a lengthy journalism career).
I have great references from students, parents, peers and administrators for any number of services you require. Need help with math (up to PreAlgebra)? Want to earn a scholarship or placement in a school with an eye-catching essay? Perhaps you are in need of basic reading, writing or computer skills (MS Office). Want to gain skills in public speaking (former full-time Chicago journalist for nearly 20 years)? I also am certified to assist those with special education backgrounds whether you are in school, college or need help on the job. I am happy to meet with you at the Govans Library, Panera Bread or Towson Library or any public location within a reasonable distance of Govans with WiFi. Talk to you soon! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching Bible Studies at Huber Memorial Church in Baltimore, MD, for nearly four years working with students from elementary through high school. I retrain annually through the Child Evangelism Fellowship.
As a teacher and mother, I have been cooking and baking for more than 40 years. I teach and train students with visual and physical impairments at the MD School for the Blind in the Career Education department (moderate to severe and profound).
I have worked with MS Outlook as a journalist and teacher/trainer since the 1990s.
I have been certified as a special educator since 2004 (MSDE). I earned a master's in special education in 2011 and have nearly 20 years experience in the field.
