About Chioma

Do you avoid writing essays? Is it difficult to articulate your thoughts? Do you struggle with organizing your arguments? Are you looking for someone to help guide you through and/or edit your papers?

If you've answered in the affirmative to any of the above questions, I am the answer you seek. Who am I? I am an accomplished attorney seeking to assist students with their unmet needs in the areas of English, language arts, grammar, and writing. I have completed my Bachelors of Arts, Master in Public Administration, and Juris Doctor degrees.

By way of background, I have served as a K-12 substitute teacher in several school districts, and have also tutored for companies such as Kaplan K-12 Tutoring Services, Princeton Review, Smart Kids Tutoring, Huntington Learning Center, Americorp Vista, Foreign Language Services (FLS) International, and Club Z tutoring.

I can help you improve in the following areas: English, writing essays, critical analysis skills, study skills, reading comprehension, and grammar. I am also happy to provide feedback to students seeking college/graduate school admission and need help reviewing personal statements, or advice on the application process, etc.

Please contact me if you are: (1) serious about becoming a better writer and/or communicator; and/or (2) interested in higher education. I'd love to help you meet your goals. I am here to make your life much easier!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I have completed my Bachelors of Arts, Master in Public Administration, and Juris Doctor. All of these degrees have required me to thoroughly research and navigate the admissions process. I have since counseled several friends and family members on how to gain admission to the university and/or graduate school of their choice. I was also hired as a personal statement editor by Dear Admissions based in Berkeley,CA.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have served as a K-6 substitute teacher and tutor for over 10 years. Such companies include, without limitation, Smart Kids Tutoring, Huntington Learning Center, Princeton Review, and Kaplan K-12 Learning Services. I believe that my experience working with this age demographic has prepared me to tutor elementary students in a variety of subjects.

Public Speaking

I am a practicing attorney. As a result, a large part of my job entails orally advocating on behalf of my clients in court. I have used my public speaking skills in more practical settings, such as giving presentations at school or work, and in the classroom while teaching and tutoring students. Lastly, I have been formally trained in the area of public speaking in both college and graduate school.
