Learning is an adventure, and I am here to help!
FRENCH: I have a Bachelor's degree in French, have lived in France for several years and have taught conversation courses for more than two years on an individual as well as a group basis. I first learned French from an American who spoke French better than many French, and pronounced words correctly, too! I can tell you not only what the rules are, but compare the rules to English so that you really can "get it." While there are no real short cuts to learning a language, there is a knowledge of French grammar as compared to English grammar that, once you get it, you really GET it. I believe that with my extra help, my love of the French language and my knowledge of France will remind you why you bothered to take French in the first place!
ENGLISH, READING, ESOL: I love English, too, and whether you are American or from another country entirely, I will do my very best to ensure that you understand why you should love it, too. I have tutored individuals 1:1 by both telephone and in-person for more than 3 years. I have particular experience in working with Japanese and Korean students.
GOVERNMENT/CIVICS COURSES: I love these subjects, and want you to understand why learning about the governmental process affects you and everyone you know, as well as why knowledge of government is one of the most important (and interesting) things you can ever learn. I worked in the Senate for the Michigan Legislature for three years, and therefore possess a first-hand knowledge of the legislative process (Michigan's process is very much like the process used in Washington, DC)and of the types of legislation in which states (vs. the federal government) are involved. I also served as a legislative liaison for the state's annual budgetary process. Learning is an adventure, and I am here to help!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
