I am a certified secondary school counselor and math teacher who previously worked as an 8th grade math teacher in Baltimore County. I am also experienced in computer tutoring, and can assist with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, and Outlook, as well as web applications like Gmail and Google Docs. I am patient and flexible; I will meet you where you are and help you to move forward!

I have Master's degrees in education from Lehigh University and Johns Hopkins University. In addition to my classroom teaching experience, I was a regular tutor at my schools' after school tutorial program, as well as a frequent Wyzant tutor. I am available for tutoring in most middle and high school subjects, specifically math. I am available to help review previous concepts, extend and practice current skills, and pre-teach upcoming content for increased confidence and mastery.

In addition to math, I am happy to work with students on study skills, test taking strategies, organization, and other school related "soft skills" that are so vital to school success. I have a background in school counseling and college admissions; I would be happy to work with students and families on the college search and application process, as well as answer questions related to financial aid.

Finally, I specialize in Praxis Core (formerly Praxis I) tutoring. Through content review and practice with a variety of test-taking strategies, I am able to help many aspiring teachers attain their credentials and begin their careers. I am available most afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

I can't wait to get started helping you!

Katie the Great!

Katie truly is gifted in her ability to not only teach but make you feel comfortable as a learner. Throughout our session, she pointed out some areas that I needed to pay more careful attention to and provided me with test taking strategies that I never learned. Working with Katie not only makes me feel more confident in my math skills but also as an educator! She was so kind, patient and straight to the point. Katie really knows her stuff and for that, I am so thankful for Katie the Great!

Again, Katie was very patient and helpful during the session. Provided a lot of clarification and pointed out similarities of current problems to previous problems.

Just the best!!!

I was struggling to pass the math praxis and someone recommended Katie to me. Not only did she help me pass the praxis, but helped me understand the math concepts in a way that I could digest. Best tutor ever!

Excellent Tutor who connects with the individual!

A high school student in Baltimore County, my niece was struggling with Algebra. After one session with Katie, my niece immediately showed less anxiety over her math assignments and improved her test scores. Not only did she understand her course work, but she gained confidence in her math ability. I highly recommend Katie because she knows how to break the barrier with students who struggle with math. Excellent tutor!!!

Amazing Tutor!

Katie literally saved me from losing my job. I was in a situation where I NEEDED to pass the praxis or I would lose my job. I had taken the Praxis (Math) 5 times and failed everytime by only 4-6 points.I told Katie my situation and we got right to work. I met with Katie 4 times and I felt so comfortable with her and with the content even after the first time we studied together. She put everything into easy terms and made it so easy for me to understand. We only had a week and a half to make this happen and we did. She is very flexible with time and very available to meet. I would highly recommend Katie to anyone who needs a Praxis tutor. Thank you so much Katie!!!
