Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

As a graduate from Johns Hopkins University and a current Master Degree candidate from The University of Alabama, I have personal experience with navigating College Counseling.

More importantly, I gained experience as a mentor in the exclusive Peer Health Mentoring and Mentoring Assistance Peer Programs at Johns Hopkins University for several years.

I believe that I have demonstrated that I the knowledge, experience, and foresight to be a good College Counseling tutor.

Elementary Math

I have experience as a teaching assistant in elementary education. I believe I excel at finding ways to make math fun for any child, by connecting examples that click with the child's interests and learning styles.

General Music

I attended Indian River State College on a full music scholarship. I went on to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in music. During that time, I was a section leader in an award winning a capella group and the President of the Gospel Choir. I have been singing from before I can remember. My first non-vocal instrument was the violin from age 4 onward. This was where I began learning to read music and basic music theory. I have also played the piano from a young age.

Microsoft Publisher

During my time as a project coordinator for a community nutrition education program at Johns Hopkins University, I was responsible for creating the promotional materials. I also have employment experience as an administrative assistant for a church in my community. During this time, I was responsible for all print publications and design, including the weekly bulletins and announcements.

Nutrition

I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's degree in the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology. During my time, I took on many nutrition related extracurriculars. I began an internship at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Nutrition department. The project was a community nutrition education program. After graduating I was hired full time and promoted to project coordinator. After the project research and funding ended, I began my pursuit of a Master's Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Alabama. I am also a freelance video creator of nutrition and health education content for publication around the country.

Piano

I have also played the piano from a young age. In addition to being a recipient of piano lessons, I have also taught piano lessons to several students over the years.

Reading

I'm an avid reader and always have been. I believe reading has been the gateway to all of my personal and professional success and would love the opportunity to share that key. I have experience as a teaching assistant in elementary education and have unique strategies to make reading connect with each student.

Sight Singing

I attended Indian River State College on a full music scholarship. I went on to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in music. During that time, I was a section leader in an award winning a capella group and the President of the Gospel Choir. I have been singing from before I can remember. My first non-vocal instrument was the violin from age 4 onward. This was where I began learning to read music and basic music theory. I have also played the piano from a young age.

If it's on sheet music and within my range, I can sing it. I understand theory and solfeggio and have had great success in teaching these methods to students in the past.

Spanish

I was an award winning Spanish student in the IB program at Lincoln Park Academy in Fort Pierce, FL as well as a Spanish minor at Johns Hopkins University. I have years of experience tutoring in the subject and have used my Spanish proficiency while traveling in Spain.
