Smith College (Biology)
The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (Master's)
Hello, I'm a current faculty member at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. I work as a research associate working in the field of population health informatics and knowledge and information management. I recently started working towards my doctorate in public health, so am very familiar with study habits and time management skills. Prior to this, I worked with the Division of Health Science Informatics at the School of Medicine. At DHSI, I mentored, advised and helped place all our informatics students from the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and School of Public Health, in their practicum/internships.
I've been tutoring since I was in high school and enjoy watching my students succeed and improve their grades. I'm happy when I get the call and a student says they have it figured out and no longer need me, but always make myself available for extra help as needed. I focus primarily on tutoring middle school through high school in math and science. I excel in tutoring in algebra, basic geometry, trigonometry, intro to biology, anatomy and physiology, but am quite capable of tutoring English, history, and chemistry.
I'm happy to work with my students and their teachers to develop the right teaching style to make my students learn and succeed. I'm also available to develop lesson plans for those who are home schooled or cyber schooled and looking for a little extra in person help. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
