My name is Kathryn A. and I have recently returned to Maryland after living and teaching English in NYC for almost 3 years. Before then, I was teaching ESL overseas. The three and a half years I spent teaching overseas have been some of the best in my entire life and I enjoyed my job very much. While in NYC, I continued teaching English to some of the most amazing students from all around the world. I think being a teacher is one of the most important jobs period. I love teaching students of all ages and have found it to be one of the great joys in my life. I have been teaching English in a wide variety of forms many of which included more advanced conversations and discussions. These conversations were centered on a wide variety of topics ranging from current affairs to history to science as well as pop culture. Not only did my students learn a lot, but I did as well. It was quite enjoyable to have students so eager to learn and to see the importance of studying English and understanding the context for why it is such a benefit.
The last several years have offered the opportunity to gain experience as an educator. My first opportunities were working with small groups. Over the last decade I have tutored students in English, history, and math. I spent 14 months in China teaching full time adult classes, business classes, part time at a kindergarten, and doing part time tutoring as well. I spent 11 months in Thailand teaching full-time at the local high school and tutoring both students and adults. Following that, I spent 12 months teaching ESL in Japan. I was teaching baby classes, elementary school children, middle school, and High school. I was also teaching business classes five days a week.
I am a very serious candidate for teaching. I do not take my job lightly and understand the importance of what I do. My background is in history, ESL, and art. I have always worked extremely hard to better myself and be a better person. I worked at a bookstore for ten years and I loved it. I am an avid reader and traveler and the more I learn, the more I can incorporate and use to help me to better my teaching skills.
I look forward to hearing from you. My name is Kathryn A. and I have recently returned to Maryland after living and teaching English in NYC for almost 3 years. Before then, I was teaching ESL overseas. The three and a half years I spent teaching overseas have been some of the
I am flexible. I am willing to work with my students to determine a fair rate. If you can't afford 40$, let me know what you can do and we will try to work something out.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
