New York University (Math and Piano)
A native of Crofton, MD with a wide variety of artistic and scientific interests, I spent the last several years as a student of New York University pursuing a double major in Mathematic and Piano Performance. My math tutoring experience began in middle school and continued through my years of high school in the National Honor Society, and college, through which I helped Calculus students with regular homework assignments and exam preparation. These years have undoubtedly reassured my love for learning and giving back.
Additionally, I have undergone sixteen years of classical music study, enhanced with vast professional training and opportunities. A recipient of numerous awards in local and state piano competitions, I began interning on Broadway at the age of 18 after moving to Manhattan, developing cultured perspectives on thriving art forms.
I am able to assist students in both academic and extracurricular fields, specializing in all levels of math including Algebra, Geometry, SAT Prep, Calculus, Differential Equations and beyond. Advanced music qualifications stem from a vast knowledge of Music Theory, History and Aural Skills, advanced experience with Musical Theatre repertoire, strong improvisational and composition skills, as well as great experience with vocalists and chamber ensembles.
When tutoring, I prefer to give brief quizzes toward the start of each session to review the student's retention of topics we covered in previous meetings. I also like to administer short comprehensive assessments every few weeks to track personal progress and assure that our sessions have been successful. I am fairly flexible with time commitments for regular sessions and allow cancellations as long as I am notified within twenty four hours of our assigned meeting time. I believe that meeting locations should be determined based upon each student's preference. Local libraries, coffee shops, or homes are all suitable as long as the student is able to focus and remain motivated!

I contacted Andrew to help my boyfriend, who is very busy with school, and he's proven himself to be a knowledgeable, patient, and excellent tutor. My boyfriend has said that working with Andrew has reinvigorated his enthusiasm for trig. I found him to be really easy to schedule and deal with and he's really nice too.
Andrew has a wonderful positive approach to tutoring. My high school son really liked his time with Andrew. He was helpful and knowledgeable about his subject matter. Highly recommend!
Andrew is working with my 18 year old son who is a senior in H. S. He has worked very well with my son. I appreciate that is is always on time and shows up with a smile and a great attitude to assist. Andrew has excellent knowledge of the subject and is able to work with young adults very well. He is awesome!
Andrew works with my son on current concepts in his calculus class and makes them understandable in an efficient and friendly manner. Would highly recommend.
Andrew worked on practice SAT math questions with my daughter. He was patient and had good information for her. She left the test feeling she'd improved her score from the first exam.
Having taken private piano lessons since the age of six, I have been a recipient of countless first prize awards in both state and regional competitions. I pursued a double major in Piano Performance and Mathematics at New York University and, during my time in Manhattan, worked as an audition pianist for the Broadway productions of Porgy and Bess, Wicked, Newsies and Chicago, following an internship with the Broadway revival of Godspell. My compiled repertoire list consists of numerous compositions from each musical period, though my virtuosic preferences tend toward the Romantic era, as Liszt remains my favorite composer. My performance of his "Les Jeux d'eau a la Villa d'este" won me the Music Scholarship for Scholars in 2011.
Academically, I earned scores of 5 on each portion of the Advanced Placement Music Theory exam in high school, and proceeded to test out of four semesters of Music Theory and Aural Comprehension in college. Though my training background is mostly comprised of classical study, I have a natural ear for Jazz and Musical Theatre music as well, having also performed as a dancer in the theatre from a very early age. Recent credits include West Side Story (Manhattan's Skirball Center), The Music Man (award nominated choreographer) and Can-Can.
