I have been an elementary teacher for 12 years, teaching Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades. Currently, I am employed with Anne Arundel County Schools as a Pre-K teacher. I believe in hands-on learning methods, as well as making learning fun! I am qualified to tutor students in reading, phonics, and writing at the elementary and middle school levels. I am also qualified to tutor elementary math. I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University and certification as a Reading Specialist from the University of Virginia. I love working with children and adolescents as they learn and grow.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been an elementary school teacher for 10 years, currently teaching 4th grade in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. I am licensed to teach K - 4th grade in Maryland and Virginia. I currently teach a class for middle schoolers called AVID. This class focuses on organizational skills (binder organization, writing in agendas, supplies in place). It also focuses on reading and writing skills, such as marking the text, Cornell notetaking, Philosophical Chairs and tutorial groups to problem solve in small groups.
