About Mark

I have been working as a Special Education teacher in Massachusetts since 2004. I am currently employed as a Special Educator. I specialize in motivating students K-5 to comply with work tasks by differentiating lessons by providing students with a unique, hands-on and self-fulfilling learning environment. I have years of experience educating students who lack motivation to complete work and/or need specific accommodations to access the curriculum/learning objective. My background includes providing appropriate applied behavioral analysis (such as discrete trial training, prompting and task analysis) to help students learn academic skills and become more independent with daily living skills.

I am also familiar with adapting and differentiating K-5 curriculum's including Envision Math, Think Math, Engage New York Math, Fountas and Pinnell's Reading a to z, Edmark Reading, Wilson Reading System, Lively Letters, Handwriting Without Tears, Writers Workshop and more. After years training and implementing these curriculums, I have mastered a way to adapt and accommodate for all learners. I have a natural talent to use a first (work completion) then (preferred activity) to motivate students diagnosed with ADHD, Executive Functioning deficits, behavioral, social and emotional regulation deficits. A lot of my students are reinforced by my enthusiastic personality and my passion in observing their academic growth. I am a hard worker who is motivated by my students success.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
