Sichuan University, China (Master's)
I was an associate professor who taught college physics at a university for eight years in China before I came to the United States. I had done research related to Physics at Clemson University and University of Florida for eight years. I found my passion to be a teacher or tutor again after I moved to Boston in 2011.
I have a teacher certificate as a physics teacher for teaching at the University in China. I used to lecture over 100 students a time. I taught calculus-based college physics in China. Physics concepts may be difficult to understand for some of students especially for those who are new to this subject. I like one-on-one tutoring, because I can quickly find each individual student's strength and weakness, then I can help them better understand concepts and master problem solving strategy. I'd love to see students' faces lighten up after my explanations clear all the confusion and questions they may have. I'd love to see students gaining confidence in solving problems.
I had chances to reinforce my math skills while I have done research all these years. I have very strong mathematical skills. I could help you get better at understanding the basics of mathematics and gaining confidence in solving problem.
I am a native Chinese speaker. Chinese Language was one of my strongest subjects in high school. I have a lot of experience teaching bilingual learners. I had tutored 4 years old to 18 years old. I have worked with middle school and high school students who take Chinese at their school. I helped them do their homework and improve their grades in tests and quizzes. I had collected a lot of Chinese children's songs, stories and Chinese cartoons which are good supplemental materials for younger kids to learn Chinese. We can learn Chinese through a fun learning process with songs, games, stories and the conversation of daily life. Ping has helped our daughter excel in her Chinese studies so that it is now her favorite subject. It always takes us a while to find a tutor our daughter works will with and Ping fits the bill perfectly. Ping is very skillful in having the student figure out the problem by their self while not allowing the student to become frustrated. She is also very easy to reach and very flexible with scheduling sessions.
I have been having Ping as my tutor for almost 3 months, she has been extremely helpful to me. Physics is one of my weak subjects and especially in senior year I needed a good grade before I graduate. She's really patient, easy to understand. She has helped me on difficult HWs, helped me prepare quizzes an and tests. Honestly I feel really lucky to find Ping as my tutor for physics, she taught me not just deep understanding in physics, but gave me confidence in this subject.
Ping is a responsible and very patient tutor who has been working with our child and has the ability to break down complicated math issues where they are able to be understood and applied. She is punctual and has been willing to devote extra time when needed.
Ping was very kind, patient, and got right down to it with my daughter, but she was difficult to understand therefore my daughter didn't have a satisfactory lesson despite spending 1-1/2 hours reviewing algebra problems.
Ping very patiently helped my daughter through concepts she did not understand. Ping is always very professional and is willing to work with us when we need scheduling changes.
We have had our first lesson and Ping was very good with our two daughters. She made it fun for them to learn, and was able to mix in lots of different things to keep their attention. We look forward to more lessons.
Ping was very patient with my son and willing to commit to a tutoring session with only one day advance. I believe meeting with Ping helped him perform better on his Pre-Calculus quiz the next day.
Ping broke down word problems and incorporated Physics equations into them making it easier to understand the applications! I will most likely return for more help later in my semester.
My daughter's AP physics class is very demanding and very fast paced. Ping was great at working with her to help her keep up and to understand the material. She really enjoyed working with Ping and has chosen her to be her permanent tutor for the whole year!
Ping is a patient, competent and knowledgeable tutor, my daughter thought the class to be very helpful and she enjoyed it very much. Thank you Ping!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra seems hard at first for students who just start learning it. Instead of using numbers algebra introduces letters as symbols to represent generalized numbers that may vary(Variables). Algebra also defines the rules of mathematical expressions and equations.
To me problem solving is like to solve a puzzle. You list the information you know and use variables for unknown information. Then you find the connection between them to form one or more equations. Then you solve those equations. You will get what you are looking for.
I can help you understand concepts well and improve problem solving skills.
Algebra 2 includes factoring, finding roots, solving sets of equations, exponential functions, polynomials, quadratic functions and rational expression, etc. I can help you understand concepts well and improve problem solving skills. I've worked with students taking Algebra 2 at Winchester High School, Winchester high school and Medford High School.

I've worked with students taking AP physics, high school honors physics and high school physics at Belmont High School, Lexington High School, Weston High School,Burlington high school and Arlington High School.
The objective of pre-algebra is to prepare the student for the study of algebra. Pre-algebra includes several broad subjects: new types of numbers such as integers, fractions, decimals and negative numbers, factorization of natural numbers, Ratios, proportions, and percentages, basic geometry etc.
I can help you understand concepts well and improve your ability to solve word problem.
Precalculus topics include Polynomial functions, Rational functions, Inverse functions, Exponential functions, Logarithmic functions, Sequences and series, Binomial theorem , Vectors etc. I've worked with students taking precalculus at Winchester High School, Woburn high school, Lexington High school and Medford High School.
