About Jaclyn

I currently hold my Masters in Elementary Education and dual licensure, (general education and special education license). I work at an elementary school as a special education assistant. I have been working here for 4 years and have developed great relationships with my co workers and students. I have worked with a wide range of students including, but not limited to, Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism, Communication Disorder, Social and Emotional disorders, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I have helped these students gain confidence in their ability to access the curriculum to succeed at the appropriate grade level. I have the ability to connect with students on a different level, as I was a struggling student throughout middle and high school. Once I understand how a student learns I am able to develop different strategies as well engaging ways to help students succeed.

I love being around children and I have a strong passion for teaching. I am very energetic and outgoing which I bring into my teaching. I have played sports all my life which allows me to make certain connections with students and learning. I am always looking for ways to keep kids engaged and actually internalize what they are learning. I believe in teaching with hands on activities and I am also very visual. I am an easy going person and a great listener. I am very easy to get along with and always looking to help others. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, I am here to help you!! Good luck with your studies!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

I have my license for Special Education K-6 moderate to mild. I also have personal experience being diagnosed with ADD at a young age. This allows me to connect with students on another level and have a better understanding on how they learn.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have my master's in elementary education as well as dual certification in elementary ed and mild to moderate special ed.
