I have strong academic credentials. I studied psychology and public health as an undergraduate at Boston University, and then went on to study infectious disease epidemiology at Columbia University for my master's degree. I've always excelled in my coursework and I like to help other people excel, too. Standardized exams are a particular strength of mine. Back in high school, I took AP Biology, AP French, AP Psychology, and AP English - as a result of earning 5s in all of these exams, I entered college with a bunch of pre-earned credits. I also earned an Adams Scholarship as a result of a perfect score on the MCAS. Later on, when applying for graduate school, I also made top scores in the GRE Verbal, Math, and Writing.
Writing is one of my strong suits. I'm passionate about all aspects of writing - proper grammar, the subtle nuances behind words, varied sentence length, succinct but memorable description. I'll make you a better writer no matter the project - a thesis, dissertation, essay, story, or paper. I made consistent As in writing and writing-related classes and have won recognition for past writing projects. In the past, I've tutored people (typically undergraduate college students) on how to write better papers for their English classes.
As far as teaching is concerned, I have prior experience as an adjunct lecturer at the University level at Boston University. I adjunct-taught a technology related class (composed of around 20 students). Technology is another major interest area of mine. I currently work in the field of healthcare informatics, which is a cross between biology, tech, and public health. In that sense, I'm kind of a jack of all trades: I love teaching and learning in a variety of fields.
My teaching style is all about creative learning: people need to be able to learn in a way that's comfortable for them, not just memorize from a textbook.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
