About Daniel

Hi there! I am a software engineer with 6+ years in web and product development. I've worked with ASP.NET (C#), Java, Ruby on Rails, and JavaScript (as well as other front-end languages such as HTML and CSS), but also have a thorough understanding of foundational programming concepts that can be applied to any language.

One thing I think I'm good at, beyond simply having technical skills, is being a communicator and having empathy for some of the challenges of learning new languages - whether it's how to write in English or how to write in code. In the past I have volunteered in various classroom environments and given private essay writing help and programming tutoring to college students.

I'm new on Wyzant, so don't have reviews yet, but I think I will be a good tutor for the rate I'm offering. I'm always open to constructive feedback when needed. If you need a tutor, message me!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ASP.NET

I have worked with ASP.NET (C#) for over five years in corporate environments, both in web and product development.

C#

I have worked with C# for over five years in corporate environments, both in web and product development. I am very familiar with the ASP.NET Web Forms and MVC Frameworks, WPF, Entity Framework, and SQL Server programming, as well as general foundational programming concepts (data structures and algorithms) that can be applied to this or any other language. I have tutored Intro to Computer Science students at my previous university and also mentored colleagues at work. I believe I am not only technically knowledgeable, but a good communicator and able to help others break down challenging problems in a way that's understandable - and rewarding to actually solve.

Computer Programming

Java

I have over six years of experience with software and web development. I am very familiar with programming in general, from object-oriented design the algorithms, and have a thorough understanding of Java.

JavaScript

I have done a great deal of front-end development for both big companies and smaller websites. I'm familiar with basic JavaScript syntax/rules, jQuery, AngularJS, amongst other frameworks.

Ruby

I have over 6 years of experience with many programming languages, including Ruby. While much of my professional experience has been with more Enterprise oriented language is like asp.net, I have studied Ruby on my own and built personal web apps, such as a to-do list app. I have also Mentored students learning Ruby. Most of my students generally have a curriculum that I can assist them with, but if they don't I have plenty of resources to create one according to the student`s specific interests and needs.

Web Design

I have built a number of websites using HTML and CSS, as well as platforms including Wordpress, and am familiar with design principles as well as frameworks such as Foundation to help structure web pages accordingly. I have also assisted a number of clients with their Wordpress implementations. I am happy to help you find a way to meet your own website goals, either through finding and implementing a template or building your own design from scratch.
