I am a patent attorney who graduated from Brandeis University. My life passion is teaching and conveying knowledge clearly, especially in a setting like with tutoring where the student can ask questions and demonstrate proficiency in one topic before moving on to the next topic.
I received an 800 on the math portion of the SAT. I have tutored math in the past, and I am well-versed in all aspects of high school math and SAT prep strategies and techniques. More importantly, I am able to convey that knowledge in a clear and interactive manner so that students retain the information.
I have tutored extensively in the past, including with SAT and SAT subject tests during college, and SSAT, SAT, and high school and middle school math, chemistry, physics and English since then. I am very good at conveying concepts and teaching techniques that students did not understand in class or never had taught to them.
I was a strong chemistry and physics student in both high school and college, and I have very successfully tutored high school chemistry and physics since then. A major portion of high school chemistry and physics is based on math skills, and so students who struggle in math also necessarily struggle in chemistry and physics. This high reliance on math as well as concepts that are hard for students to visualize, make chemistry and physics especially difficult subjects for students. I am very adept at conveying the knowledge necessary to understand these concepts more intuitively and to conquer chemistry class and physics class with confidence.
With respect to English and essay writing, I am an attorney, and having to write clearly and persuasively is crucial to the profession. I am very skilled at improving students' essays and writing techniques so that they can write more succinctly and cogently. The SAT Writing section tests writing indirectly by making the tester choose which sentence, word or paragraph is the most appropriate in the context. I am very adept at teaching the techniques and skills so that the student can greatly improve in that section.
I look forward to working with you to help improve your test scores and grades, and, most importantly, boost your confidence and give you the skills you need to succeed. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
