About Christopher

My passion for teaching developed mid-completion of my high school career. I have taught on a smaller level in the past, whether it be through training others at my job, teaching Sunday School, or in helping other students with coursework at school. I hope to start my tutoring journey and continue to grow in my skills as a teacher. I am a History/Secondary Education major with a concentration in Classical Studies at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. I am currently a first-year student, but I will be serving as a Resident Advisor next year at Gordon during my Sophomore term. I live in Brick, New Jersey, but I am currently abroad, being that college is in session. Until May 15th, I will be doing strictly online tutoring sessions.

My most proficient subjects involve literature, composition, interpretation, philosophy, history, and the Latin language. My plan is to graduate with a licensure to teach Latin, but I will also have been trained to teach the Classical Humanities that accommodate it. After teaching for 4-5 years, I plan to pursue a Masters degree, and eventually a professional degree in Latin/Classical Humanities. I hope I can serve my students well, and my goal is to bring out the best in them. I will help you find your distinct writing style and develop it to be as strong as it possibly can be!

I have taken about a year of Latin with a lot of different independent studies, and I have mastered almost all of the basics. I will be taking a lot more Latin in the years to come, and I have continued to learn about the culture of the Romans, which is critical to learning Latin as a language. I can teach my students how to compose basic statements about themselves, and how to understand and interpret basic classical Latin. I can also relate it to English and some portions of simplified Spanish!

I have found grammar particularly interesting every since I took Advanced Placement Literature and Composition. I can help students prepare for A.P. tests, as well as diagram sentences to digest structure and style. I earned a '3' on the AP Lit and Comp exam, and I have improved vastly in my skills since then. This is directly important to learning Latin as a language, as well.

I have been interested in history ever since I was in Middle School. I have taken countless history courses and read countless books on the subjects listed as well. I earned a '3' on the Advanced Placement World History exam, and although I specialize in Ancient History, I have contemporary experience as well. Most notably, I have written papers of precise expertise on various aspects of Linear A script, Persian/Zoroastrianism religion, and Julius Caesar.

I would love to tutor any student that has the same passions I do, but I would never limit myself to that. I desire to tutor any student who is ardent about learning and improving! Please contact me on this site, and I would be delighted to schedule a lesson. Thank you for your time!
