I am a licensed Elementary Educator grades 1-6 as well as a Reading Specialist grades k-12. I have worked in the Massachusetts public school systems for 5 years. I obtained my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from American International College. I then went on to obtain my CAGs in Reading from American International College. Due to my love of reading and wanting to help children read, I am in the process of becoming certified in the Wilson Reading Program. Reading is such a key to opening doors to the world!
The core of my educational philosophy is that all of my students will know they can become successful learners and are important. I intend to be an unbiased teacher who treats each student with the respect and fairness they deserve. I plan my lessons in a manner that promotes having every child work towards achieving their individual potential. In order to create a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for my students, my materials are organized around differentiated instruction giving all students opportunities to succeed every day as well as developing structures and expectations that are clear and productive. It is my goal to enter the classroom each and every day with an open mind, a positive attitude, and with high expectations for each student and for myself. As an educator, I intend to make it my responsibility to keep growing, discovering, and to continue to challenge myself. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
