I am a certified Special Education Tutor grades K - 8 along with Elementary Education and History. I enjoy teaching and love reading. I have worked with small groups of children for many years. I currently work for the City of Worcester as an Instructional Assistant. I am a mother of two children, who have graduated and are on their own. My son had difficulties in school when he was young which made me go back to school to be able to teach students with ADHD so that no child would ever have to go through what my son did.
I am single and live alone with my cat. I have plenty of free time to help students gain an understanding of school lessons and mostly for students to become lifelong learners and love to read. I have spent many years doing phonics review and helping students become successful readers. In the past five years I have worked with students who have come to this country as either unaccompanied minors or refugees. I have dealt with helping students from Central America, Somalia, Nepal, Iraq, Pakistan and Africa learn to speak, read and write English and to help these students catch up to their grade according to age. This has been the most rewarding job I have ever done. I am a certified Special Education Tutor grades K - 8 along with Elementary Education and History. I enjoy teaching and love reading. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
