In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught at the All Newton Music School since 2002, and I have taught privately since 1993. I have 3 degrees (BM, AD, and MM) in flute performance. I am also certified to teach junior high & high school music classes in Japan.
I emphasize good tone production as well as sight-reading and theory skills.
In addition to private lessons, I have also taught classes. The most recent is the Japanese class for the New England JET Program (The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program) alumni, which is funded by the Consulate General of Japan. I have been teaching this class since 2009.
I also help students who are preparing for JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test).
