About Kathryn

It was love at first sight. Me and English. To this day, it is my passion. I love reading it, composing it, orating it. I sleep with the Oxford English Dictionary at my side. That's a fact.

Here's another. I love sharing my passion for words, stories, grammar and, even, punctuation! This is why I also love to teach. If you happen to become one of my students you will never be the same again. You will become passionately obsessive about it too. The world will be a different place because you will have discovered a powerful new tool. Language.

My teaching practice is more like motivational coaching; more like fitness coaching. Wherever we meet, that will be our gymnasium, and we'll fill the time with exercise routines and verbal encouragement.

I guarantee that I can teach you how to write and communicate in English, because I am a very skilled and experienced English language and literacy educator and writing instructor. I have over twenty years of, alternatively, teaching English (to college students and business professionals and new immigrants) and writing it (articles, lessons, short stories, poetry, opinion, travel guides, a novel). As an educator, I confidently employ a variety of teaching methodologies and information technology tools--in both physical and virtual classrooms--to fulfill the needs and learning styles of a broad spectrum of students. My key expertise is in working with English speakers of other languages, but I design and deliver learning experiences to meet the needs of disparate students. I create simple yet extraordinary learning experiences guaranteed to meet, and surpass, your goals.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
