About JOSEPH

I'm an English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor at a school in Boston. I have a B.A. in English from The University of Massachusetts and I've been teaching for about 3 years. My degree was focused on literature and writing, but I also received a certificate for Teaching English (CELTA) from Cambridge University.

I'm open to tutoring native English speakers who need help with studying literature and writing essays for high school or college. I have a lot of experience tutoring advanced ESL students who have roughly the same vocabulary as a native freshmen in college.

I have experience with many different types of classes within ESL:

+ University Pathways (for international students going to U.S. universities; essay writing and college vocabulary)

+ Pronunciation

+ Exam Prep (FCE and TOEFL)

+ Business English

+ Many different levels of Grammar classes. (from Beginner to Advanced)

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to try a lesson.

I hope to hear from you, and good luck with your studies!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
