I have been tutoring students since I was a junior in high school and my experience ranges from middle school through graduate school courses. Formally, I have also been a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate and graduate level Statistics as well as SAS coding classes. My experience has been primarily with high school and college level statistics and biostatistics, but I have also worked with students on algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, R and SAS in a 1-1 setting. I have a graduate degree in Biostatistics from a top 10 school as well as an undergraduate in mathematics. I pioneered the Statistics minor at the College of the Holy Cross and was the first to complete all the necessary courses, though the degree did not become official until after my graduation.

The most rewarding part about tutoring for me is helping students achieve their goal and understand complex issues in a way that makes them question how they even struggled in the first place. I understand that everyone has a different learning style and I really value and appreciate how everyone learns and love adapting my style to fit each student! If you feel that I would be able to meet your tutoring needs, please reach out and we can discuss. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

SAS

SAS

I was first introduced to SAS my junior year of college when I performed research sponsored by the NIH; in addition to research, we were in instructed by PhD student in statistical theory and SAS programming. I have since taken multiple courses in SAS programming, written an undergraduate (Mathematics) and a graduate (Biostatistics) level thesis primarily using SAS to clean and analyze data, and have tutored other students in SAS. My final year of graduate school, I was a lab instructor for the introductory statistics course that taught SAS in conjunction with lecture material. On a day to day basis, as a professional working in clinical research, I perform routine macro, base, and SQL coding in SAS to meet necessary job requirements.

Statistics tutor

Knows subject and how to teach. He helped my student to understand the assignment he was working on and how to complete it on his own. He was also willing to extend the session longer than planned which was particularly helpful this time.

Knowledgeable, patient, personable tutor - despite platform issues!

Alex is tutoring me for Applied Regression Biostatistics class for my Epdemiology program. He did an amazing job during my first lesson, despite platform issues! Wyzant’s entire site was down the morning of our lesson, and when we were able to join our call ~20 mins into our session, the whiteboard and chat were unavailable, and we could not hear each other. He found a workaround on another meeting application, and spent the complete lesson time with me, despite our session starting almost half an hour late due to Wyzant issues. He was extremely patient with my confusion on the subject matter, and explained concepts to me in terms I could understand and retain. I received an A on my assignment I completed after our lesson!

Extremely knowledgeable and patient tutor

Alex was EXTREMELY helpful!! I can't say enough good things about his tutoring. I have no experience with statistics or SAS but he explained things in a way that made it much easier for me to understand. He asked me important questions to make me think about what I was learning and truly guided me every step of the way so patiently. I ask a lot of questions and he had answers for all of my questions. I will definitely be seeking his help in the future!! Thank you so much Alex!
