Bio

In 4 years of High School, 4 years of College, and 2 years of Graduate School, I learned innumerable things about a wide variety of topics, but the most important lesson I learned was this: the students who get A's are not necessarily the most naturally gifted in the class, but are the almost always the hardest workers. Sooner or later, everyone finds themselves struggling to stay on top of their classwork, and when that happens, it's the diligent, not the brilliant, who come out on...

In 4 years of High School, 4 years of College, and 2 years of Graduate School, I learned innumerable things about a wide variety of topics, but the most important lesson I learned was this: the students who get A's are not necessarily the most naturally gifted in the class, but are the almost always the hardest workers. Sooner or later, everyone finds themselves struggling to stay on top of their classwork, and when that happens, it's the diligent, not the brilliant, who come out on top.

That being said, I know that hard work doesn't just come from a faucet that can be turned on. It's difficult to be studious when you've experienced little to no positive results from trying, or when you're lacking a passion for the material. That's where I come in.

First, I help you gain a stronger understanding of the curriculum. Your teacher only has the time to explain things to you one way – their way – and odds are that way won't always click with the way you learn. I take the time to find the teaching method that gels with your thinking process, and then help you come at the concepts from every angle until they start make sense.

Furthermore, I teach you how to study efficiently, and manage your time on exams effectively. Test anxiety is a common problem, and over time it can leave a student feeling helpless and completely without confidence, perpetuating further struggles on exams.

Finally, I find that learning is always easier when you're excited about the subject. If you're having trouble getting that gung-ho feeling about Algebra, or Calculus, or Kinematic Synthesis, don't worry. I've got more than enough enthusiasm for two people.

Excellent tutor

Great teacher , took the time to explain each step and helped to resolve to a final solution! I would highly recommend!

Glen, 1 lesson with Andrew

More confident

My daughter felt more confident just after the first lesson. She said having the problems broken down step by step made helps her to figure out where she was having issues with her problem solving.

Great tutor!

Andy was the third tutor we tried for a very difficult situation with our high school student. Our student was struggling with difficult course material as well as a teacher/student mismatch. Andy jumped in, looked at old quizzes and tests, talked with our child, and identified problem areas right away. He could tell how our student learned best and used techniques (and tricks and tips) to help him succeed. In addition to that, he gave him tips for how and what to study (and how often). Our kid really respects and admires Andy - so do we - and it is well deserved!

Perfect Prep

A recent D average is turning around, my son's last test was a 100 thanks to Andrew's help, it is exactly the extra help needed.

Andrew is very patient and very knowledgeable

Andrew reviewed Will's classroom work, homework and next time he will review recent mid term exams. Andrew recommended 1 to 1.5 hours per week for a few weeks. He was very patient with our son. Thank you

Patient, knows his stuff, effective

My son has been working with Andrew for a few weeks now, as his honors algebra class moves faster than he was used to in his previous math classes. Andrew has given him a sense of confidence that he had lost, and his patience in working with him through some rough patches has contributed greatly to my son's willingness to work hard. An excellent tutor who I highly recommend.

Ben, 28 lessons with Andrew

Knowledgable and patient

Andrew helped clarify physics terminology and examples. He also brought clarity into the realm of physics. He is very insight and knowledgeable in the field of physics and mathematics.

Tutor responded:

Thanks Melissa! I'm very happy to hear I was able to help you gain a stronger comprehension of the material. I appreciate the feedback as well.

Dedicated and Engaging

Andrew has been tutoring my son since September of 2014. My son has really responded to Andrew and easily holds his attention throughout the session which is always informative and never boring. He has become my son's go to guy for any help needed in Physics and SAT math review. Before we found Andrew via WyzAnt, my son felt defeated and was ready to withdraw from physics. These tutoring sessions have given my son full understanding of subject matter, improved grades and most Importantly a new found confidence to tackle challenges. When Andrew relocated my son started to panic a bit, but our fears were quickly alleviated when the option to tutor on line became available. We feel fortunate to have found such a great tutor :)

Extremely Effective!

Andy connects with my 15 year old and is able to explain complicated subject matter so that it's easily understandable. We should have gotten him much sooner! One night our daughter forgot her materials but Andy didn't miss a beat and was able to Google examples and get the information across to her. She got her first 84 which is WAY BETTER then prior exams! THANKS ANDY!
