I am a registered dietitian and nutritionist, also credentialed in Diabetes Education, with a Masters degree in Education. I am currently a Professor at a small college in Worcester, MA--teaching The Science of Nutrition. I also see patients in a medical practice--where I apply Nutrition Science to medical problems (medical nutrition therapy.)
I believe it is important to develop a strong COMMITMENT and FOCUS while studying--setting up specific times for study, and creating an environment where learning is enhanced.
I encourage those I work with to take on the learning challenge--knowing one can eventually feel a sense of accomplishment and confidence.
My approach is geared to each individual personal learning styles. I use some coaching principles in my work. I encourage the building up of one's self confidence---i.e., "You can do it!".
Learning basic Nutrition can initially be confusing--as there is often contradictory information to understand.
I am skilled at teaching the OVERVIEW of what one is learning, as well as how to go about studying each section.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
