I am currently working as a reading intervention tutor in kindergarten in the Metrowest area, working one to one and with small groups.
I have experience in working with children in Pre-reading, reading readiness, reading remediation,guided reading, math, handwriting, phonics,(Wilson Fundations), , organizational skills. I have worked with typical children and children with special educational, health care and social/emotional needs in preschool-4th grade settings, in the classroom, out of the classroom, one-to-one and numerous tutoring situations. I have worked with children on the autism spectrum, speech/language delays, PDD, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, as well as typical kids who need remediation, confidence and strategies to learn and enjoy learning more. I actively participate in professional development courses/workshops.
I have an M.Ed from Lesley University and have worked in other child-centered settings including day care, preschool and after school programs. I am also the parent of two teens who have had varying special needs. I respect the individual styles and learning differences of all children.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to work with students with ADD/ADHD because I have worked with this population in a variety of grades and settings for many years. I have worked in Pre-K with special needs students all the way through grade 4 as a one-one aide with children with attention and hyperactivity issues.
My background is a master's degree in Elementary Education as well as many professional development points in special needs areas.
I have many years teaching and tutoring children with learning disabilities, including dyslexia. I am trained in Orton Gillingham and Wilson Foundations. I also have done professional development in other reading and phonics methods. I have worked one-on-one and in small groups with guided reading, using Fountas and Pinnell and other methods.
I work as an early intervention literacy tutor in the Natick Public Schools. I am trained in Wilson Fundations and Orton-Gillingham. I focus on building lessons that encourage confidence and make learning fun while being academically sound. I appreciate the differences in ALL children.
