About Joseph

I have been tutoring for three years, but I have been helping people understand math all my life. And I am great at it. Let me help you with:

SAT / ACT Math Prep, GMAT / GRE Math Prep, Basic Math, College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, SAT Math, Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Probability, Statistics and Computer programs / languages such as Excel, SQL, R, VBA, or even just basic computer use.

While I love math, I do not expect you to. It is my job to make it as easy on the brain as possible. I will put you at ease; you will never feel condescension or judgment from me. I explain math in the plainest of English. My only goal is to make you "get it" as painlessly for you as possible. But don't take my word for it. I have plenty of satisfied clients who would gladly attest to my teaching abilities.

I have attended WPI for a Masters in Statistics, I have my Bachelor's in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island, and I make my primary living analyzing data for corporate. And let me tell you, upper management demands explanations in the simplest of terms.

I usually tutor high school, college, and adults. I tutor both in-home and in public venues. I have helped solidify concepts and learn new ones, work through homework, study and review for tests, and provided any support needed for the duration of the class.

Let me put my math giftedness and experience to work for you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Accounting

My BS is in Accounting. I have experience tutoring both financial and managerial accounting, In addition, I have 3 years of work experience as a Staff Accountant.

Algebra 1

I've been eating, sleeping, and breathing math since I was a child. Being almost finished with my MS in Applied Statistics from WPI, Algebra 1 is second nature to me. Let me help you with it, putting it into the simplest of terms.

Algebra 2

I've been eating, sleeping, and breathing math since I was a child. Being almost finished with my MS in Applied Statistics from WPI, Algebra 2 is second nature to me. Let me help you with it, putting it into the simplest of terms.

Calculus

Calculus is one of the subjects I tutor the most. it is fundamental to my studies in Applied Statistics. It comes easy to me, and I explain it just as easily, whether it be Calculus I, II, III, or IV.

Differential Equations

My mathematical education includes the standard 4 courses of calculus, the final of which is Ordinary Differential Equations.

Whether you need help with the basics, such as separable ODE's or using the integrating factor, or more advanced topics such as using a Laplace transform, I am here to help you, finding both general solutions and specific solutions in the case of initial value problems (IVP).

Finite Math

Finite Math is also fundamental to a study of Statistics. Boolean Algebra, Combinatorics, and Matrix Algebra are all used regularly. I have also tutored Linear Programming specifically. It all comes easy to me, let me put it in easy, simple terms for you!

Geometry

I've been eating, sleeping, and breathing math since I was a child. Being almost finished with my MS in Applied Statistics from WPI, Geometry is second nature to me. Let me help you with it, putting it into the simplest of terms.

Linear Algebra

Linear algebra is at the heart of the subject of Statistics, my field of study. I have taken it as an undergrad, as a grad student, and have applied it in most statistics classes. From the easier Gaussian elimination, to the more difficult matrix decompositions, I have studied it all. My many years of tutoring statistics often necessitated a linear algebra review.

Logic

Logic is the very foundation mathematics sits upon. Not only have I taken a class specifically devoted to logic, its applications have surfaced repeatedly in many of my mathematics classes.

Let me help you with such topics as implication, negation, De Morgan's law, quantifiers, Boolean algebra, among many others.

Microsoft Excel

I have 20 years experience using Excel for both academic and work purposes. Whether you're just starting out, or want to learn how to hard code macro's, I tutor it all. Excel is a tool that will serve you well for the rest of your life.

Prealgebra

I've been eating, sleeping, and breathing math since I was a child. Being almost finished with my MS in Applied Statistics from WPI, Prealgebra is second nature to me. Let me help you with it, putting it into the simplest of terms.

Precalculus

I've been eating, sleeping, and breathing math since I was a child. Being almost finished with my MS in Applied Statistics from WPI, Precalculus is second nature to me. Let me help you with it, putting it into the simplest of terms.

Probability

Probability is the most fundamental branch of math for Statistics. I have used it for every class in the pursuit of my MS in Applied Statistics, in every meeting, on every homework. It comes easy to me, so let me put it in easy, simple terms for you!

SAT Math

SAT math problems can be a little trickier than normal math homework. Not only will we review content, but I will show you some tips and tricks for staying on pace as well. Let me help you prepare for test day!

SQL

I've been using SQL on the job for 5 years. Wherever I work, I end up as the go-to person for anything SQL related. I have trained several people on SQL coding, and I would be happy to help you too!

Statistics

Tied with Calculus, Statistics is the subject I tutor the most. I am one class shy of an MS in Applied Statistics from WPI. Let me put it in easy, simple terms for you!

Trigonometry

I find myself tutoring Trigonometry often; it is a subject that many people have difficulty with. I have a great method of explaining Trigonometry, and I am able to tailor it to the comfort of the student. My students have had quite a few "light bulb" moments with me tutoring their Trigonometry.
