I have been teaching Special Education for over ten years in Massachusetts. I began teaching in Northampton, MA in a small group, therapeutic educational setting in which I taught video editing and English. While teaching video editing, students created and edited their own personal videos. I then moved on to become the Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Center in Hadley, MA. Following that, I began working as a Special Education teacher in the city of Holyoke, MA.
I currently work for Sabis International Charter School in Springfield, MA as a Special Education Math Teacher. I currently teach grades 6 & 7 Geometry, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra. My approach to teaching is based on the model of differentiated instruction. I utilize a great deal of technology when teaching and approach my lessons from a multi-sensory approach. My goal for every lesson is for every student to be able to access the learning curriculum through either visual or kinesthetic means. My belief is that every student can learn in some way and it is the responsibility of the teacher to recognize the particular learning style of the student and tailor the lesson toward that style.
I am certified in Education and have my master's degree. I can tutor middle school mathematics, middle school English, and other subjects based on need.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
