I have a passion for Spanish language and its culture. I have taken Spanish since high school and have minored in Spanish at UC Irvine in California. I have studied Spanish for 6 years non-stop. I also speak French since my parents are both from France. I am organized and I know what it is like to learn a language from scratch. I have a lot of resources and tools that I can provide to help any student succeed in Spanish class. I have been a foreign exchange student in a program known as AFS which is the American Field Service where I have lived with a family in Chile over in South America for 7 weeks. I still keep up with Spanish by communicating to Spanish-speaking customers at my work at CVS/Pharmacy as a pharmacy intern. I also make phone calls in Spanish to customers and I also interpret and translate for the pharmacist. I have taken and pass an exam called Diplomas of Spanish as a foreign language in May 2009 and have received the High-intermediate level B2 qualification which states that this diploma accredits candidates with the necessary knowledge of the language to allow communication in everyday situations which do not require the use of specialized terms. My specialty is advanced grammar so I am efficient with difficulties such as por/para and ser vs. estar. I am also very good at going over conjugations with verbs and the different tenses involved such as the present, preterite, imperfect, subjunctive moods (both present and past). In terms of tutoring material depending on the student could involve the use of the portable white board with markers and maybe use of flashcards for key points to remember. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
