About Natalia

I'm an experienced special educator who has helped many students achieve their learning goals. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring children! I love those special “aha” moments happen when the light bulb goes off and the student is able to crack the code of reading, of whatever concept I work on. I emphasize building a relationship with the children and getting to know them as a person. My belief is that all students can learn and I let them know that , “I believe in you. You can do this. I won’t give up on you.” My energy, persistence, and patience serves to motivate my student’s to apply themselves and not give up.

In my instruction, I ensure that students are making effective progress by personalizing instruction. As students learn differently, I adjust my instruction based on student's needs to help them achieve their full academic potential. I have an excellent ability to administer a variety of assessments.

I have an ESL endorsement and took several ESL courses. In addition, I was trained in several reading programs, including Wilson, Lively Letters, and Leveled Literacy Intervention.

I'm a native Polish language speaker. I graduated with a Polish Language Arts degree and taught a graduate level Polish course at the Columbia University.

I'm a certified Special Educator who has an extensive training in supporting students with learning disabilities. I am certified in teaching reading using sequenced structured phonics program (Wilson) that is proven to be a successful approach with students who struggle with learning how to read.

I love teaching, watching students grow, and become more self-confident learners. I instill in my students a growth mindset, in which they believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. Teaching a growth mindset creates motivation and helps with achieving goals. Please contact me to make your first step toward achieving your goals!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

I have a professional license in the special education field for grades K-8. I've been working in the special education field since 2008. In addition, I am certified in Wilson Reading program, and went through training for Leveled Literacy Intervention and Lively Letters. These interventions are geared towards students who struggle with 'cracking the code.'

Phonics

I am certified in the Wilson Reading program, and went through training for Leveled Literacy Intervention and Lively Letters. These interventions are geared towards students who struggle with 'cracking the code' and address phonics skills explicitly.

Polish

I am a native Polish language speaker. In Poland, I graduated with a bachelor degree in Polish Language Arts. In addition, while at BU I took a course in TESOL. I taught Polish at Columbia University in NY for one semester as a substitute instructor.

Well prepared and started at a good pace. Very patient.

Started with pronunciations and common words and phases. I feel that with some practice that I should be able to speak and understand some basic, simple, everyday conversation.
